Initial Drafts & Costs

MLSD Referendum 2017: Building the Schools Our Students Deserve

We are currently in the process of evaluating our long-term facility needs with a focus on curricular enhancements for technology-rich classrooms and improved arts facilities.  The proposed referendum project also includes the creation of a state-of-the-art field house, improvements in school security, and creation of revenue generating programs.  It is our hope that this study will result in a successful referendum to improve and expand our facilities.  Our anticipated date for a public vote on the referendum is April 2017.

The Board of Education has carefully interviewed a competitive pool of architects for this important project.  We have selected FKA Architects to guide the initiative.  You can view their initial plans on this website. However, please note that this draft is the starting off point. We now have a steering committee of residents and educators who are meeting to make changes and offer suggestions. Moreover, the table of costs is for the initial draft, and is not what will be voted on in April because it does not include the state's aid which can be 40% of the final cost. We have included this initial proposal as is to continue making this initiative as transparent as possible.
